With the Support of the Kuwait Gulf Oil Company (KGOC), College of Science Launches Upgraded Lab 88 to Enhance Students’ Skills in Advanced Technologies

Under the patronage of the Acting Dean of the College of Science, Prof. Haider Sayed Jawad Behbehani, and the Acting Head of the Department of Computer Science, Dr. Zaid Dashti, along with representatives from the Kuwait Gulf Oil Company (KGOC)—including IT Group Manager Mishaal Ghazi Al-Hindi, IT Team Leader Ahmed Safar, PR and Media Team Leader Dalia Musaed Al-Hashash, and Senior Technical Support Engineer Mashael Iskandar—the College of Science inaugurated the upgraded Lab 88 in the northern building, supported by KGOC.

The lab has been equipped with 30 Mac Mini computers and 5 high-performance Workstations, contributing to the enhancement of the educational process and aligning with the latest developments in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. In recognition of the company’s support, the lab has been named the “Kuwait Gulf Oil Company Lab.”

This contribution reflects KGOC’s ongoing commitment to fostering constructive cooperation with Kuwait University by providing modern tools that support students and researchers in advancing the quality of their academic outputs and facilitating practical learning across various disciplines that keep pace with rapid developments in artificial intelligence.

On this occasion, Prof. Behbehani expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to KGOC for this initiative, highlighting the company’s dedication to supporting academic programs and contributing to the development of educational infrastructure, which directly benefits students and enhances the quality of the learning process.

Prof. Behbehani emphasized that this initiative will empower students to utilize advanced technologies and strengthen their research and scientific skills, in line with the rapid technological evolution and future labor market needs.

Dr. Zaid Dashti added that this contribution supports advanced teaching programs requiring high-performance equipment, benefiting students in the scientific department, improving their qualifications for the labor market, and contributing effectively to the development of projects in both private and public sectors, including oil companies.

KGOC confirmed its continued commitment to implementing social responsibility initiatives aimed at supporting national institutions, developing young talent, and strengthening partnerships across various sectors.
