Asseel Al-Ragam is an Associate Professor, Vice Dean for Planning, Consultation and Training, and Director of the Design Development and Research Lab at Kuwait University’s College of Architecture. Previously, she served as a Visiting Research Fellow at CERI-Sciences Po in Paris, where her work centred on human-centred public space planning in response to the climate crisis, as well as knowledge circulation to and from the Gulf. Her published research explores the historical urban planning processes that have shaped Kuwait’s built heritage. In addition to her academic writing, she co-authored Kuwaitscapes, a card game designed to promote awareness of public space usage. Currently, she is authoring a book that revisits Kuwait’s urban planning practices and their lasting implications. She is also leading an LSE-funded research project that examines resource use, sustainable policy adoption, and user behaviour in Kuwait. This project focuses on bridging critical gaps between the housing, energy, and transport sectors, with the aim of amending policies, developing mediation tools, and enhancing public awareness to ensure more effective environmental policy implementation.
