In line with the Public Authority for Sport’s efforts to support and empower women in the health, sports, and psychological domains, the Authority organized an awareness conference for women under the theme “Your Health is in Your Hands: Sustainable, Nonviolent.” The event is held under the patronage of Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Sport, Mr. Bashar Abdullah Al-Salem, with the participation of various state institutions and ministries, including Kuwait University, represented by the Deanship of Student Affairs and the Women’s Studies and Research Center. The conference runs from Sunday, 23 November 2025, to Tuesday, 25 November 2025, at the headquarters of the Public Authority for Sport.

The conference opened with a welcoming address delivered by Mr. Al-Salem, who expressed his appreciation for the efforts undertaken by the Authority and valued the participation of government entities from various ministries and institutions. He emphasized that this conference stems from the Authority’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to gender equality and responsible community engagement. He affirmed that women’s empowerment is not an individual responsibility, but a collective societal duty achieved through promoting a culture of non-violence and raising awareness of women’s sports.

Dr. Hanouf Al-Jarallah Al-Massoud, representing women at the China–Europe–Africa Business Union, delivered a multilingual opening address, followed by a visual presentation showcasing the achievements of Kuwaiti women in sports, and a live sports performance on stage presented by Al-Oyoun Girls Club.

The first panel discussion of the conference, titled “Women in the Authority’s Strategy: Context and Prospects,” was chaired by Dr. Sami Al-Adwani, an expert in sustainable development and its applications in strategic and operational planning. The panel featured Mr. Bashar Al-Salem, Director General of the Public Authority for Sport; Dr. Fatima Sayed Hashem, Director General of the General Administration for Financial and Administrative Affairs; and Dr. Hanan Al-Zayed, Secretary of The Soroptimist International Club Kuwait. The discussion focused on the Authority’s role in empowering women in sports, the importance of supporting women’s sports, and the need to encourage women athletes.

At the conclusion of the first day, sponsors and participating entities were honored, followed by the opening of the exhibition held alongside the conference. Several government bodies and academic institutions took part, including Kuwait University, which participated through a booth representing the Sports Activities Department at the Deanship of Student Affairs. Acting Director of the Sports Activities Department, Dr. Tariq Dashti, affirmed that the department’s participation aligns with its strategy to strengthen community partnership and highlight the role of physical activity in supporting women’s health and empowerment.

The Women’s Studies and Research Center at Kuwait University also participated with a dedicated booth. The Center’s Director, Dr. Noura Al-Shuaibi, emphasized that this participation reflects the Center’s commitment to collaborating with state institutions to combat violence against women, expressing hope that such cooperation will yield positive outcomes that enhance the well-being of women in Kuwait.
