
Under the patronage and attendance of the Acting Dean of the College of Arts at Kuwait University, Prof. Abdulmohsen Al-Tabtabai, the Cultural Committee of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature held the event "Kuwaiti Writer's Day" at the hall of the Arts College theater – Southern Building."
College of Arts Theater. The event honored the writer and theater critic Dr. Mohamed Mubarak Bilal, in recognition of his significant contributions to literature and theater criticism. The event was attended by various cultural, academic, and media personalities, in addition to faculty members and students.
The event began with a speech by Dr. Ahmad Al-Faraj, a faculty member from the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, who expressed appreciation for Dr. Mohamed Mubarak Bilal, who is known as a pioneer in scientific analysis in the field of theater criticism. He mentioned that Dr. Bilal played a pivotal role in the development of the theater movement in Kuwait over decades, contributing to the education and guidance of new generations of intellectuals through his critical works that enriched the Arabic library.
On his part, Prof. Abdulmohsen Al-Tabtabai welcomed the attendees, emphasizing that this honor was not just a celebration of Dr. Bilal’s achievements but a tribute of love and appreciation for the cultural accomplishments he has made throughout his career. He clarified that Dr. Bilal was a torchbearer of scientific criticism in theater, highlighting his effective contributions in elevating the level of literary and artistic criticism in Kuwait and the Arab world.
Prof. Noura Al-Roumi, the head of the Cultural Committee, also expressed her pride in honoring Dr. Bilal, stating: "This event is a tribute to his distinguished academic and artistic career, which has had a significant impact on the academic and artistic fields in Kuwait."
Additionally, Prof. Khaled Abdel Latif Ramadan, the former dean of the Higher Institute of Theater Arts, expressed his happiness at the honor being given today, noting that on behalf of his colleagues at the Institute, he felt proud to participate in honoring one of the Institute's sons, Dr. Mohamed Mubarak Bilal, through the Cultural Committee of the Department of Arabic Language at the College of Arts. He expressed gratitude to the Institute, which he considered the foundation from which he acquired many different sciences, having participated in cultural activities since he was a student. In conclusion, Prof. Khaled Ramadan thanked Kuwait University, represented by the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, for honoring Dr. Bilal, praising the university's enlightening role in Kuwaiti society.
For his part, the honoree Dr. Mohamed Mubarak Bilal expressed his happiness at this honor, emphasizing the importance of the Arabic language in the development of theater and literature in general. He discussed the necessity of fostering dialogue between new generations, with humility and openness, and concluded by thanking Kuwait University and the Department of Arabic Language, especially Prof. Noura Al-Roumi, for their supportive role in his honor, expressing his pride in this recognition, which reflects the ongoing academic dialogue and communication.
The event also featured a short video showcasing Dr. Bilal's achievements, and at the conclusion of the event, a commemorative plaque was presented to Dr. Bilal in recognition of his significant contributions to the cultural and artistic field.

Dr. Mohamed Mubarak Bilal is one of the prominent figures in the theater field. He studied at the Higher Institute of Theater Arts in 1978, and later obtained a PhD in Literature and Criticism from Exeter University in the United Kingdom. He held several prominent positions in the field of theater, including Head of the Theater Department at the Ministry of Information and Dean of the Higher Institute of Theater Arts in Kuwait.
