In line with Kuwait University’s strategic plan to affirm its role and strengthen its position locally and globally, President of Kuwait University Receives the Ambassador of Japan to the State of Kuwait

Prof. Dina Musaed Al-Mailem, President of Kuwait University, received H.E. Mr. Murakai Kenichiro, Ambassador of Japan to the State of Kuwait, on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Sabah Al-Salem University City.
The visit aimed to enhance bilateral relations between Kuwait University and Japanese universities, and to explore avenues for academic and scientific cooperation between both sides.

The meeting discussed the importance of expanding prospects for future scientific collaboration, as well as opportunities for student and cultural exchange between the two countries. It also focused on developing academic partnerships that contribute to the exchange of expertise and the advancement of knowledge.

For her part, Prof. Dina Musaed Al-Mailem, President of Kuwait University, expressed her appreciation for the distinguished relations between the State of Kuwait and Japan. She commended the pioneering role of Japanese universities in the fields of scientific research and modern technology, affirming Kuwait University’s commitment to strengthening joint academic and research cooperation in support of development and education goals.

In turn, H.E. Ambassador Mr. Murakai Kenichiro expressed his pleasure in visiting Kuwait University, praising its distinguished academic standing, and emphasizing his country’s keenness to expand scientific cooperation with Kuwait University, particularly in the field of cybersecurity.

On another note, a coordination meeting was held between Kuwait University officials and representatives of the Embassy of Japan, attended by Dr. Mohammad Al-Marzouq, Assistant Vice President for Information Technology, H.E. Mr. Murakai Kenchiro, Ambassador of Japan, and Ms. Kurumi, Cultural Attaché at the Embassy of Japan.

The meeting discussed prospects for cooperation between Kuwait University and Japanese universities in the field of cybersecurity and exchanged views on developing technical capacities and enhancing joint academic programs in this vital area.
