Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs, Prof. Osama Al-Omair, received a delegation from the Federal Republic of Nigeria, representing Katsina State, in the first meeting between the two parties to explore avenues for academic cooperation and cultural exchange. The meeting, held on Tuesday, 25 November 2025, at Sabah Al-Salem University City, aimed to reinforce academic relations between Kuwait University and accredited global universities.
Representing Kuwait University were: Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs for Faculty and Cultural Relations, Prof. Abdulrahman Al-Sulaili; Assistant Vice President for External Research Collaboration and Consultation, Dr. Mabkhout Al-Dosari; and Assistant Vice President for Academic Support Services for Strategic Planning, Dr. Meshari Al-Nahidh. From the Nigerian side, the delegation included His Excellency Malam Farouk, Deputy Governor of Katsina State, and His Excellency Ambassador Mortaza Jimoh, Head of the Nigerian Embassy Mission in Kuwait.
During the meeting, both sides discussed opportunities for cooperation in education, particularly regarding student exchange programs and scholarship students for studying Arabic at Kuwait University. They also explored research collaboration between the two universities, aimed at enhancing academic and scientific capacity, reaffirming their commitment to expanding academic cooperation and providing opportunities to strengthen the educational systems of both parties.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Prof. Al-Omair expressed his gratitude for the delegation’s interest and participation, noting that this represents a first step toward future meetings designed to enhance academic collaboration. This initiative aligns with Kuwait University’s strategy to provide academic and cultural opportunities and to reinforce its relations with accredited global universities.
