Under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the Sixth Gulf Conference on Cybersecurity Challenges (CYBER G6) was held in the State of Kuwait from 2 to 5 November 2025 at the Jumeirah Hotel, under the theme “A Secure Digital Environment.” Kuwait University participated in the conference alongside a distinguished group of experts and specialists from various governmental entities and academic institutions across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
Dr. Essam Al-Ruqobah, Director of the Engineering Training Center at the College of Engineering and Petroleum, affirmed that the participation of a selected group of the college’s students aimed to build qualified national capacities capable of addressing digital threats and managing cybersecurity crises. He noted that this participation contributes to enhancing students’ practical skills in alignment with the State’s vision to develop national competencies in the field of digital security.
Meanwhile, Dr. Maha Al-Abduljaleel, faculty member at the Department of Computer Science, College of Science, explained that the participation of Kuwait University students in the conference helped develop practical solutions to confront digital challenges and cyber intrusions. She emphasized that this engagement comes as part of the University’s ongoing efforts to support digital training and capacity building.
On the sidelines of the conference, an exhibition and a series of scientific workshops were held throughout the event, featuring the participation of Kuwait University students from the Colleges of Science and Engineering & Petroleum, and the Information Systems Center, along with representatives from various governmental agencies and scientific institutions. The Engineering Training and Alumni Center at the College of Engineering and Petroleum organized student project presentations, attended by H.E. Ms. Melissa Kelly, Ambassador of Australia to Kuwait.
At the conclusion of the conference, held on Wednesday, 5 November 2025, the Computer Engineering Department team from the College of Engineering and Petroleum, Kuwait University, was announced as the first-place winner of the “Cyber and Technology Excellence and Innovation League for Youth” competition, for their project “Stabilix.”
The winning team members were Hind Al-Nisf, Dalal Al-Hassoun, Bodour Al-Wazzan, Rawan Al-Arifi, and Noura Al-Zahmoul.
On this occasion, Dr. Adel Hussein Mallallah, Acting Dean of the College of Engineering and Petroleum, congratulated the winning students, commending their excellence and creativity in presenting a project that reflects the high caliber of Kuwait University students and their ability to innovate and compete in the field of cybersecurity at both the national and Gulf levels.
