Engineering and Petroleum Student Participates in the 9th OPEC International Seminar
Outstanding student Anwar Ahmed from the Chemical Engineering Department at the College of Engineering and Petroleum, Kuwait University, participated in the 9th OPEC International Seminar held from July 9 to 10 in Vienna, Austria. The seminar was held under the theme “Shaping the Paths Together: The Future of Global Energy,” addressing the global energy challenge amid expectations of demand growth at the fastest pace seen in decades.
The 9th OPEC International Seminar brought together oil and energy ministers, government officials from member countries, as well as experts and specialists. The intensive program included three ministerial sessions featuring speakers who discussed key topics such as balancing energy security with expanded access, the importance of reducing emissions and protecting the environment, and diversifying energy sources with a particular focus on sustainable clean energy. The seminar also emphasized the role of technologies like artificial intelligence and carbon capture.
Student Anwar Ahmed’s participation from the Chemical Engineering Department aimed to enrich her expertise and knowledge of current energy challenges, especially in the renewable energy sector. It provided her the valuable opportunity to listen to the views of global sector experts and to network with students from other countries sharing the same interests. Such participation highlights the pivotal role of chemical engineering in addressing global challenges and developing solutions in the energy field.
