Affirming the Official Support and Attention Given to Innovation and Scientific Research, The Patent Office at the Research Sector Participates in the 16th International Inventions Fair in the Middle East (IIFME)

Under the patronage of His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, may God protect him, and in the presence of His Excellency the Minister of Education, Eng. Sayed Jalal Al-Tabtabaei, the Patent and Intellectual Property Rights Office of the Research Sector is participating in the 16th International Inventions Fair in the Middle East (IIFME), held from February 8 to 11, 2026, in cooperation with the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva and organized by the Kuwait Science Club, at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel – Al-Raya Hall, Kuwait City.

This participation comes within the framework of Kuwait University’s commitment to supporting scientific research and innovation and strengthening its presence at specialized regional and international forums. The University is represented by a distinguished group of Kuwait University inventors who have obtained patents accredited by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) of the U.S. Department of Commerce, reaffirming the University’s leading role in supporting research and innovation.

The participating inventors include:

  • Prof. Saad Ali Makhseed from the Department of Chemistry, College of Science, and Prof. Mohammed Al-Kurdi, presenting their patented invention entitled:
    Method for Preparing Nitrogen/Sulfur-Doped Activated Carbon
    This invention represents a promising new carbon material for applications in energy storage and environmental technologies.


     

  • Prof. Khaled Ahmed Al-Hazzaa from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, College of Engineering and Petroleum, accompanied by his research team comprising engineers Salwa Al-Azmi, Dalal Al-Ouda, Hayat Al-Bassam, and Sheikha Shams, presenting their invention entitled:

    Automatic Boat Docking System (UBoatIt)

    An innovative automated system for docking ships and boats.

 

  • Dr. Mohammed Abdullatif Al-Fares from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, College of Engineering and Petroleum, along with his research team comprising engineers Sheikha Al-Khalfan, Safaa Karam, Rabab Fardan, and Zainab Khaled, presenting their invention entitled:

    Road Pothole Fixer
    An innovative device offering a fast, safe, and temporary solution for repairing road potholes.

 

  • Dr. Abdulrahman Mutib Al-Azemi, Prof. Fouzi Mouffouk, Dr. Laila Al-Haddad, supporting academic staff member Mohammed Emirah, and postgraduate student Tasneem Salem from the Department of Chemistry, College of Science, with the participation of Dr. Abdulhamid Emwas from the Core Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Laboratory at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, presenting their invention entitled:

    Biomolecule Detection Method Using Diffusion Ordered Spectroscopy

    An advanced method for detecting biomolecules using diffusion-ordered spectroscopy.

 

The International Inventions Fair in the Middle East (IIFME) aims to provide a global platform for Arab inventors to communicate and exchange expertise with their counterparts from around the world. It is considered the second-largest international invention fair worldwide, after the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions, according to global classification standards, and enjoys wide Arab, regional, and international interest.

The fair highlights the innovations and creativity of Arab youth and showcases the civilizational image of the State of Kuwait and its leading role in supporting and encouraging inventors in service of humanity. Participating inventions are evaluated by a specialized committee in accordance with international standards to select the most outstanding innovations.
