Reaffirming Its National Role in Supporting Government Institutions in Strategic Planning and Institutional Performance Development
Kuwait University Organizes Workshop on "Fundamentals of Strategic Planning and Performance Measurement" for Ministry of Higher Education Employees
Kuwait University, represented by the Office of the Vice President for Planning, organized a workshop entitled "Fundamentals of Strategic Planning and Performance Measurement" for employees of the Ministry of Higher Education on Tuesday, 30 June 2026, at Sabah Al-Salem University City.
The workshop aimed to introduce the concepts of strategic planning and institutional performance management, contributing to enhanced organizational effectiveness and improved operational efficiency. The event was attended by the Vice President for Planning, Prof. Osama Al-Omair; the Assistant Vice President for Strategic Planning, Dr. Mishari Al-Nahedh; the Head of the Resource Planning and Performance Planning Section within the Strategic Planning Sector, Eng. Khulood Al-Jassim; the Assistant Undersecretary for Support Services at the Ministry of Higher Education, Mr. Saadoun Bouarki; as well as a number of Ministry employees representing various sectors.
In his opening remarks, Prof. Osama Al-Omair emphasized Kuwait University's strong commitment to strengthening partnerships with government institutions, building national capacities, and promoting the exchange of expertise through the adoption of best practices in strategic planning and institutional excellence. He noted that the workshop aligns with the University's institutional priorities of quality, innovation, sustainability, and distinguished presence.
For his part, Dr. Mishari Al-Nahedh reaffirmed Kuwait University's commitment to advancing the principles of strategic planning and facilitating knowledge creation and transfer in institutional strategy design and performance management systems, which the University continuously develops. He explained that these efforts support the University's mission to serve as a leading source for preparing highly qualified national talent capable of contributing to the knowledge economy through distinguished higher education, impactful scientific research, and effective partnerships that address the needs of society.
During the workshop, Dr. Al-Nahedh delivered a presentation highlighting the role of strategic management in the workplace through clearly defined plans and objectives aimed at improving organizational performance. He stressed the importance of establishing integrated institutional strategic systems that ensure operational sustainability, unify organizational efforts, enhance institutional efficiency, enable continuous performance monitoring and measurement, and support data- and evidence-based decision-making.
Engineer Khulood Al-Jassim subsequently presented Kuwait University's methodology for developing its strategic implementation plan, explaining how the University's institutional strategy is translated into actionable initiatives through defined implementation mechanisms, aligned with budget allocations and supported by key performance indicators.
The workshop concluded with interactive exercises led by Eng. Sarah Al-Harbi from the University's Planning Sector. The session opened with practical examples drawn from Kuwait University's experience in developing its strategic implementation plan in collaboration with employees of the Ministry of Higher Education, providing participants with practical insights into the strategic planning process.
