The Research Sector Honors Prof. Milad Sami Bitar for His Patent on a Wound-Healing Treatment for Patients with Diabetes

Under the patronage of Prof. Abdullah Jawad Ali Sultan, Vice President for Research at Kuwait University, the Research Sector organized a ceremony to honor the inventor Prof. Milad Sami Bitar from the Department of Pharmacology, College of Medicine, for being granted a patent by the United States Patent and Trademark Office for his invention: Sulforaphane-Cystine for the Treatment of Wounds in Diabetic Patients. The event took place on Monday, 29 September 2025 at 12:00 p.m. in the Research Sector.

The ceremony began with a welcoming address by the Vice President for Research, in which he stated:

“Today’s gathering is in recognition of the scientific and research efforts made by Prof. Bitar, which culminated in the innovation of a wound-healing treatment for diabetic patients. This scientific achievement reflects the research caliber of Kuwait University and affirms that our national institutions possess the capability to offer innovative solutions to chronic health challenges.”

In his turn, Prof. Bitar expressed his gratitude to the Research Sector for their support of his invention, and described the importance of this breakthrough, stating:

“This invention is more effective than currently available treatments for delayed wound healing.”

This achievement is part of a series of successes being realized at Kuwait University in the field of scientific research.
