In line with Kuwait University’s commitment to strengthening its academic standing in international forums and reinforcing its role in advancing education and scientific research, the university participated in the 43rd session of the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), held in the city of Samarkand, Republic of Uzbekistan, from November 1 to 13, 2025, with the participation of representatives from 194 countries.
Kuwait University’s participation came as part of the official Kuwaiti delegation headed by H.E. the Minister of Education, Eng. Sayed Jalal Al-Tabtabaei, in the specialized committees of UNESCO. Representing the President of Kuwait University, Prof. Noura Al-Suwaih, Vice President for Health Sciences and Acting Secretary-General of Kuwait University, took part in the meetings, along with Prof. Adam Al-Mulla, faculty member at the College of Engineering and Petroleum and member of the General Policy Debate (GPD) and Prof. Ali Zaid Al-Zoubi, Acting Dean of the College of Social Sciences and member of the International Social and Human Sciences Committee (SHS).
This participation reaffirms Kuwait University’s role in representing the State of Kuwait within international bodies and organizations, contributing to the formulation of education and research policies at both regional and global levels. It also reflects the university’s keenness to exchange expertise and strengthen academic cooperation with educational institutions worldwide — supporting its mission to build an advanced knowledge-based society and achieve the goals of sustainable development.
The university’s representatives expressed their pride in participating in this international event, which brought together a distinguished group of experts and academics from across the globe. They emphasized Kuwait University’s continued dedication to contributing to the development of higher education and consolidating its position as a leading academic institution in the region.
