
As part of the State of Kuwait’s participation in the meetings of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS), held from June 25 to July 2, 2025, Dr. Hala Al-Jassar—Acting Head of the Department of Physics at the College of Science, Kuwait University, and Kuwait’s representative to COPUOS on behalf of the Kuwait National Space Research Center (Kuwait-NSRC) in 2024—reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to promoting the peaceful uses of outer space and expanding international cooperation in this field.
Dr. Al-Jassar noted that Kuwait has taken significant steps in the space sector, most notably the establishment of the Kuwait National Space Research Center (Kuwait-NSRC) in 2024, under the high patronage of His Highness the Amir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God protect him. The center serves as a pioneering national platform for research, training, and the development of international partnerships in space science and applications, in support of the space economy and sustainable development.
In her address, Dr. Al-Jassar emphasized the importance of space governance and the management of orbital debris, highlighting their critical role in ensuring the sustainability of outer space. She affirmed Kuwait’s full commitment to the objectives of the COPUOS committee.
