As part of an initiative to attract a large number of ambitious and creative pre-university youth and foster their talents and capabilities in scientific research and innovation, the 11th edition of the Kuwait Science and Engineering Fair (KSEF) kicked off on Sunday. The annual fair, organized by the Kuwait Science Club since 2012, is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah and supported by Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS).
This year, faculty members from Kuwait University's College of Engineering and Petroleum and College of Science participated in the judging panel for the fair, where they listened to presentations from participating students and evaluated their research projects.
Dr. Mohammad Abdulghaffar Al-Saffar, Head of the Development and Competitive Programs Sector at the Kuwait Science Club and faculty member at the College of Engineering and Petroleum, stated that the competition aims to promote a culture of scientific research and innovation among pre-university students. It provides a competitive environment that helps discover talents and develop youth capabilities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Dr. Al-Saffar added that the fair serves as a scientific forum for sharing and developing research experiences and creating a sustainable network for future research collaboration. He also praised the contributions of key partners such as Kuwait University, the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, and the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, for their academic support to students. Additionally, he commended KFAS for its continued support in promoting scientific culture and encouraging students to engage in research and innovation.
