
Affirming Kuwait University’s Role in Expanding Academic and Cultural Cooperation Among Nations
Under the patronage of the President of Kuwait University, Prof. Dina Musaed Al-Mailem, Kuwait University, represented by the Language Center at the College of Arts, in cooperation with the Deanship of Student Affairs, organized the graduation ceremony for the Language Center Scholarship Students for the academic year 2024/2025. The event took place on Thursday, 7 August 2025, at Sabah Al-Salem University City, in the presence of Acting Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Jassem Al-Hamdan, representing the President of Kuwait University, Prof. Dina Musaed Al-Mailem; Assistant Vice President for Community Services and Libraries, Dr. Hamed Sulaiman Al-Furaih; Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs at the College of Arts, Dr. Eisa Al-Nashmi; Acting Director of the Language Center, Dr. Lamees Ahmed Al-Bustan; the Head of Arabic as a Second Language Unit at the Language Center, Dr. Khaled Al-Fadhli; along with a number of ambassadors from sister countries and members of the academic staff.
The celebration aimed to reaffirm Kuwait University’s role in expanding the scope of academic, cultural, and civilizational cooperation among nations, reflecting the State of Kuwait’s foreign policy of cultural and civilizational outreach.
In his speech, Acting Dean of Student Affairs at Kuwait University, Prof. Jassem Al-Hamdan, said:
“I extend my warmest welcome to all esteemed attendees. Today, we celebrate the graduation of a distinguished group of scholarship students from the Language Center, who came to us from diverse countries and continents, bringing with them their languages, cultures, and great aspirations, becoming an unforgettable part of Kuwait University’s story.”
He added that the experiences of the students at Kuwait University were not merely linguistic studies, but a journey of cultural and scientific exchange. Prof. Al-Hamdan continued:
“You are now ambassadors of knowledge and ambassadors of Kuwait University wherever you go. Carry what you have learned here with integrity and be role models in excellence and ethics.”
He expressed his appreciation to the faculty members of the Language Center at the College of Arts for their dedicated efforts in providing an ideal educational environment capable of opening new horizons for knowledge and success.
For her part, Acting Director of the Language Center, Dr. Lamees Ahmed Al-Bustan, affirmed that Kuwait University spared no effort in providing an ideal learning environment for students from different countries. She noted that 120 students from 30 different countries worldwide were welcomed this academic year, reflecting Kuwait’s commitment to the importance of knowledge and cultural exchange.
She added that the Language Center at Kuwait University is not limited to teaching the Arabic language, but also seeks to encourage respect, tolerance, and a sense of identity through continuous support. She emphasized that the Language Center has succeeded in fostering communication through the exchange of cultures and experiences within a distinguished academic and educational environment.
Meanwhile, Head of the Arabic as a Second Language Unit, Dr. Khaled Al-Fadhli, noted that the celebration was an excellent opportunity to learn about other cultures. He stressed that the graduates from Kuwait will serve as ambassadors for the country in their homelands. He also highlighted Kuwait University’s keenness to be a hub of development by nurturing a promising generation within an inclusive learning environment for students from all over the world, wishing all graduates success in their future careers.
The ceremony included a video presentation showcasing the journey of scholarship students at Kuwait University, supported by faculty members, administrators, and supervisors.
At the conclusion of the event, the Language Center at the College of Arts honored the President of Kuwait University, Prof. Dina Musaed Al-Mailem, with a commemorative shield, which was received on her behalf by Acting Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Jassem Al-Hamdan. The graduates were also honored and presented with their graduation certificates.
