Kuwait University announced that the Kuwait Journal of Science achieved a significant academic and scientific milestone by advancing to the first quartile (Q1) in the Scopus database, one of the world’s largest databases specializing in the indexing and evaluation of peer-reviewed scientific journals. This achievement places the journal among the most influential and distinguished scientific publications internationally.
In this regard, Editor-in-Chief of the Kuwait Journal of Science, Prof. Shafiqa Al-Awadhi, emphasized that this accomplishment reflects the journal’s advanced scientific standing and the continuous efforts dedicated to enhancing the quality of scientific publishing and strengthening its global academic presence. This has been achieved through attracting high-quality scientific research and adhering to the highest internationally recognized standards of peer review and publication.
She noted that the journal has recorded remarkable growth in its scientific performance indicators over the recent period. Its CiteScore increased from 2.5 to 4.0 and has continued to rise, reaching 4.5 by June 2026. In addition, its Impact Factor in the Web of Science database increased from 1.1 to 2.6, contributing to the journal’s advancement to second place within its scientific category.
Prof. Al-Awadhi further stated that the journal’s H-index also increased from 22 to 28, reflecting the growing impact of the research published in the journal and the increasing frequency with which scholars cite its articles. She affirmed that these results demonstrate the quality of the published scientific content and the growing confidence the journal enjoys among the academic and research communities at both the local and international levels.
She explained that this achievement is an extension of Kuwait University’s continued support for scientific research and academic publishing and reflects the success of its efforts to achieve the objectives of its institutional strategy, which is founded on the pillars of quality and distinguished presence. She affirmed that the journal will continue to enhance its scientific performance and strengthen its international presence, thereby contributing to reinforcing the University’s position as a leading academic and research institution.
