University Council Holds Its Third Meeting Chaired by Kuwait University President Prof. Dina Musaed Al-Mailem

  • Kuwait University President opens the University Council meeting by congratulating the students enrolled in the First Semester of the Academic Year 2025/2026.
  • Approval of four Memoranda of Understanding between Kuwait University and the University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, Tongji University in the People's Republic of China, Texas A&M University, and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in the United States of America.
  • Approval of the regulatory framework for the management of public shelters at Sabah Al-Salem University City.
  • Approval of the regulatory framework for the Research Ethics Committee on Human Subjects.
  • Approval of the promotion of twenty-four (24) faculty members to the academic ranks of Professor and Associate Professor across scientific and humanities faculties.

 

Kuwait University President, Prof. Dina Musaed Al-Mailem, chaired the third University Council Meeting (No. 03/2025) held on Sunday, August 3, 2025, in the University Council Meeting Room at Sabah Al-Salem University City, in the presence of University Council members.

The meeting commenced with Prof. Dina Musaed Al-Mailem extending congratulations to the newly enrolled students for the First Semester of the Academic Year 2025/2026. She also welcomed the attendees to the third session, which included discussion of several items on the agenda.

The University Council ratified the minutes of Meeting No. 02/2025 held on May 29, 2025.

In a statement following the meeting, Acting Secretary-General of Kuwait University, Dr. Bader Ahmad Al-Jasser Al-Rajhi, announced that the Council had approved four Memoranda of Understanding between Kuwait University and:

  • the University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates,
  • Tongji University in the People's Republic of China,
  • Texas A&M University in the United States of America,
    as well as a Memorandum of Understanding between the Health Sciences Center at Kuwait University and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in the United States of America.

The Council also approved the Regulatory Framework for the Management of Public Shelters at Sabah Al-Salem University City.

Dr. Al-Rajhi further noted that the Council approved the Kuwait University Annual Report for the Academic Year 2023/2024, along with the Regulatory Framework for the Research Ethics Committee on Human Subjects.

Prof. Dina Musaed Al-Mailem expressed her appreciation to the Admission and Registration Department and the Vice President for Academic Support Services for facilitating the admissions process for the First Semester of the Academic Year 2025/2026.

The Council also approved the promotion of twenty-four (24) faculty members to the academic ranks of Professor and Associate Professor across various scientific and humanities faculties:
