College of Public Health Explores Introducing a Field Epidemiology Program in Collaboration with Local and International Institutions

The College of Public Health held a virtual meeting chaired by Acting Dean Dr. Mohammed Al-Khamis, with the participation of Dr. Mohammed Behbehani, Director of the Kuwait Center for Disease Prevention and Control, along with representatives from the Ministry of Health, the World Health Organization, and the Eastern Mediterranean Public Health Network. The meeting aimed to explore the inclusion of a Field Epidemiology Training Program within the college’s curriculum.

Dr. Mohammed Al-Khamis emphasized that this initiative reflects Kuwait University’s strategy to enhance quality by developing academic programs and aligning them with best international practices, thereby strengthening graduate competencies and meeting the needs of the healthcare labor market.

He further explained that the meeting discussed the possibility of integrating part of the program into the Public Health Research specialization, which is grounded in applied epidemiology and biostatistics, contributing to the continuous development of the specialization and the sustainable enhancement of its outcomes.
