
Kuwait University, represented by Dr. Mohammed Al-Khamees, Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the College of Public Health, participated in the sub-regional coordination meeting on zoonotic and animal diseases. The meeting was hosted by Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
During his participation, Dr. Al-Khamees presented the findings of ongoing research on the applications of machine learning algorithms and artificial intelligence in the geographic epidemiological investigation of transcontinental diseases and pandemics, as well as in predicting their spread.
The meeting was attended by representatives from health, agriculture, and livestock sectors of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
The aim of this meeting is to strengthen sub-regional coordination and dialogue on priority zoonotic and animal diseases, share experiences and lessons learned, and identify best practices in disease control.
