The Department of Finance and Financial Institutions at the College of Business Administration, Kuwait University, organized a seminar titled "Finance and Mortgage: Opportunities and Challenges." During the session, Dr. Saad Al-Nahedh from the Department of Finance and Financial Institutions hosted Mr. Ibrahim Al-Awadi, Chairman of the Real Estate Union and CEO of Aayan Real Estate Company, and Engineer Fahad Al-Saleh, Director of the Real Estate Consulting and Product Development Department at the Property Division of Kuwait International Bank.
The two guests discussed the key challenges facing real estate financing in Kuwait and ways to address them. They highlighted the essential differences between real estate financing and regular financing, particularly in terms of repayment duration and interest rates. They also emphasized the importance of adopting innovative financing solutions that reduce the financial burden on beneficiaries, especially young people seeking to own a home.
The seminar shed light on the current state of mortgages in Kuwait, the fluctuations in property prices, and the impact of financing policies on the real estate market. The speakers discussed the importance of regulating mortgages as an effective financing tool that helps enhance ownership opportunities and stimulates the real estate sector.
Additionally, the discussion covered the vital role of "real estate developers" in revitalizing the market and creating new products that meet citizens' needs. They stressed the necessity of developing regulatory legislation and strengthening the partnership between the public and private sectors to provide a more efficient and sustainable financing environment.
The seminar witnessed significant attendance and interaction from students and faculty members who engaged in asking questions about the future of real estate in Kuwait amidst current economic changes.
