
Kuwait University’s Vision for Keeping Pace with Technological Advancements Amid the Information Revolution
Kuwait University Welcomes Huawei Technologies Kuwait to Enhance Strategic Cooperation and Foster Innovation
In alignment with Kuwait University’s strategic vision to stay abreast of technological advancements amid the ongoing information revolution, the University President, Prof. Dina Al-Mailem, received a high-level delegation from Huawei Technologies Kuwait on Monday, July 21, 2025, at Sabah Al-Salem University City. The visit aimed to strengthen mutual cooperation between the University and Huawei in offering training programs in information and communication technologies (ICT), as well as to foster collaboration in various research and training domains.
The visiting delegation was received by several university officials, including:

• Dr. Hamed Al-Fraih, Assistant Vice President for Community Services and Libraries
• Dr. Mabkhout Al-Dosari, Assistant Vice President for Research
• Dr. Mohammed Al-Marzouq, Assistant Vice President for Information Technology
Representing Huawei Technologies Kuwait were:
• Mr. Cheng chong Fu, General Manager of Huawei Technologies Kuwait
• Mr. Jeff Zhu, CEO of Huawei
• Ms. Judy Wang, Account Manager at Huawei
At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Dina Al-Mailem welcomed the representatives of Huawei Technologies, acknowledging the company as a global leader in ICT infrastructure and smart devices. She emphasized that this cooperation will positively reflect Kuwait University's ability to equip its students and staff with leading technological practices and global experiences, in line with rapid technological transformation and the realization of Kuwait Vision 2035.
For his part, Dr. Abdullah Al-Mutawa highlighted that the meeting included productive discussions aimed at strengthening the ongoing relationship between Kuwait University and Huawei. He noted that future cooperation opportunities were explored in vital areas, such as joint research, the establishment of advanced laboratories, and providing training opportunities for Kuwait University students at Huawei’s headquarters in China. This training is expected to impart advanced technical skills aligned with modern labor market demands, particularly in the fields of ICT, artificial intelligence laboratories, and smart systems development.
Mr. Cheng chong Fu, General Manager of Huawei Technologies Kuwait, expressed his great pleasure in visiting Kuwait University, describing it as a distinguished academic institution in Sabah Al-Salem University City. He stated that this collaborative meeting reflects efforts to establish a strategic partnership aimed at offering ICT training programs. Mr. Fu affirmed that the cooperation also focuses on enhancing students’ academic and technical competencies, developing their digital and technological skills, and empowering them with the latest tools in ICT.
During the visit, the Huawei delegation presented a detailed overview of cutting-edge smart building technologies, international best practices in digital transformation within higher education institutions, and strategies for integrating modern technologies into education. Additionally, they showcased several innovative projects in smart cities and student-centered smart services.
In conclusion, both parties reaffirmed the importance of ongoing dialogue and the development of collaborative frameworks to support Kuwait University’s vision for digital transformation and innovation.
