Kuwait University Hosts University Preparation Program for Outstanding Secondary School Students in Medicine and Engineering

Kuwait University has launched the second edition of the University Preparation (PRE) Program, organized by the Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity, affiliated with Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), in collaboration with the College of Medicine and the College of Engineering and Petroleum. The program is being held from August 2 to 13, 2026.

The program, which is part of the strategic partnership between Kuwait University and the Center, aims to prepare outstanding secondary school students for studies in medicine and engineering by developing their academic and professional skills and familiarizing them with the university environment, thereby facilitating their transition into medical and engineering disciplines.

The Acting Dean of the College of Medicine, Prof. Adnan Taher Abul, stated that the College is pleased to host the program for the second consecutive year. He noted that the participation of outstanding students provides them with the opportunity to explore the field of medical research and gain early exposure to specialized medical disciplines.

Prof. Abul added that the program helps prepare students to transition from secondary school to the medical university environment with confidence, explaining that participants will gain firsthand insight into the College's departments, academic specialties, and the realities of medical practice through its lecture halls and laboratories.

He emphasized that the College of Medicine is committed to equipping students with the latest medical knowledge and scientific advancements while instilling humanitarian values and professional ethics, thereby preparing a new generation of physicians capable of leading the healthcare sector with competence and excellence.

Meanwhile, the Acting Dean of the College of Engineering and Petroleum, Prof. Mohammed Ali Al-Khaldi, welcomed the participating students, affirming the University's commitment to providing them with the necessary support and resources while fostering a motivating educational environment that meets their academic and professional aspirations.

For his part, Dr. Sultan Shafaqah Al-Anezi, Coordinator of the University Preparation Program from the Department of Electrical Engineering, explained that such programs contribute to preparing future scientists, inventors, and innovators capable of making a tangible impact in vital scientific and technological fields across the region.

Dr. Al-Anezi stated that the program dedicates one day to each engineering discipline, in addition to the academic programs offered by the College of Architecture. He encouraged students to take full advantage of the scientific and cultural activities included in the program and to make the most of their university experience.
