Kuwait University holds a meeting with Kuwait Oil Company to explore avenues of research collaboration and enhance partnership in light of Kuwait Vision 2035

As part of efforts to reinforce the partnership between Kuwait University and the Kuwait Oil Company, Dr. Mabkhout Mohammed Al-Dosari, Assistant Vice President for External Research Collaboration and Consultation at Kuwait University, held a coordination meeting with Mr. Mohammad Khalifah Alabduljaleel, Deputy CEO for Planning and Innovation at Kuwait Oil Company. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Bader Mohammed Al-Ajmi, Manager of the Innovation and Technology Group, to discuss avenues for research collaboration and to activate the provisions of the agreement signed between the two parties in July 2019. This agreement focuses on cooperation in the fields of reservoir studies and heavy oil, aiming to foster research collaboration through technology and knowledge transfer, improve oil production and refining processes, and advance industrial and technological operations through scientific research. The initiative also emphasizes supporting decision-making processes within the company to aid strategic planning.
During the meeting, mechanisms for developing joint research projects between the two institutions were discussed, contributing to the promotion of innovation and the development of national competencies. Additionally, key challenges facing Kuwait Oil Company were reviewed, along with potential solutions through this collaborative research effort between the two longstanding institutions in the upcoming phase.
In this context, Dr. Al-Dosari affirmed that this collaboration represents a strategic step toward enhancing applied scientific research and aligning it with labor market demands and the needs of the vital oil sector. He also noted that it contributes to realizing one of the pillars of Kuwait Vision 2035—establishing a diversified and sustainable knowledge-based economy.
For his part, Mr. Alabduljaleel emphasized the Kuwait Oil Company’s commitment to activating partnerships with academic institutions to develop innovative solutions in response to technical and environmental challenges. He added that collaboration with Kuwait University constitutes a key foundation for supporting and developing national scientific and technical capacities.
This meeting comes as part of ongoing joint efforts to fulfill the goals of Kuwait Vision 2035 by expanding the knowledge base, promoting innovation, and enhancing coordination between academic and industrial entities, thereby fostering a developmental environment grounded in a knowledge-based economy.
