The College of Science at Kuwait University hosted the Science and Technology Workshop for girls, organized by the Kuwait National Robotics Championship, at the Sabah Al-Salem University City – North Building, on Saturday, October 11.
Dr. Maha Alabdul Jaleel, a member of the championship’s organizing committee, stated that the workshop served both an awareness and training purpose in the fields of science and technology. It targeted girls aged 8 to 14 years, covering both primary and intermediate school stages. The registration exceeded 100 participants. She further explained that the girls were divided into four workshops: the drone workshop, robotics assembly workshop, space workshop for satellite assembly, and finally, the scientific information workshop.
Dr. Maha Alabdul Jaleel, clarified that the one-day workshop aimed to encourage scientific creativity, raise awareness about the national robotics competition, and motivate girls to engage in the fields of technology and robotics. She pointed out that the championship represents a national opportunity to discover Kuwaiti talents in science and technology and to promote creative thinking among youth.
She also commended the efforts of the academic departments within the College of Science at Kuwait University, such as the Computer Science and Physics Departments, alongside private sector partners including Zain Kuwait, Al-Sayer Group Companies, Warba Bank, and the Kuwait Technical College. Dr. Maha Alabdul Jaleel, emphasized that this integrated collaboration between the public and private sectors exemplifies a successful national model for supporting science and technology and ensuring the annual success of the championship.
