university environment and scientific research to build an innovative generation

Dr. Al-Jassar: Integrating space sciences with sustainable development reflects
the role of science in creating innovative solutions

 

Kuwait University hosted the Fifth Annual Scientific Conference for Outstanding School Students in Physics, which was held remotely under the theme “Space Sciences and Sustainable Development: A Kuwaiti Student Perspective.” The
conference was organized by the Asian Regional Office of the International MILSET Organization, in cooperation with the Science Guidance Department at the Ministry of Education, and with the participation of the Faculty of Science
represented by the Department of Physics. A total of 104 students took part in the event, which was held on Monday, March 30, 2026.


The conference aimed to enhance students’ scientific research and innovation skills, connect secondary education to the university and research environment, encourage critical thinking, and promote the practical application of scientific knowledge. It also included workshops delivered by faculty members from the Department of Physics, in addition to a workshop for teachers and supervisors on the use of artificial intelligence in teaching.


In his speech, the Vice President for Academic Support Services, Dr. Abdullah Al-Mutawa, emphasized that hosting the conference reflects the university's commitment to connecting the academic and research environment and enabling students to engage with professors and scientists, in alignment with Kuwait’s vision of building a generation capable of innovation and supporting sustainable development. Meanwhile, the Head of the Department of Physics, Dr. Hala Al-Jassar, stated that linking space sciences with sustainable development highlights the role of science in generating innovative solutions.
