Kuwait University announced that it has continued to be included in the 2026 ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, with Clinical Medicine ranked in the 201–300 range worldwide, placing the University within the highest-ranking range achieved by Arab and Gulf universities in this field.

The University said in a press statement issued today that the ranking placed Kuwait University within the same range as the highest-ranked Arab and Gulf universities in Clinical Medicine, reflecting the University’s research presence in one of the most competitive medical disciplines internationally.

It added that the ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects covers approximately 2,000 universities from nearly 100 countries worldwide, while the Clinical Medicine ranking includes 500 higher education institutions globally, reflecting the level of international competition across academic and research disciplines. The University explained that the detailed indicator results showed a research presence in the Category Normalized Citation Impact (CNCI), alongside indicators measuring International Collaboration, research output, and World-Class Faculty.

The University affirmed that this result comes within the framework of Kuwait University’s strategic direction to enhance the quality of scientific research, strengthen its distinguished presence regionally and internationally, expand areas of research cooperation and partnerships, and encourage scholarly publication in prestigious journals.

The University stressed its continued efforts to develop its research ecosystem and provide a supportive environment for researchers, thereby contributing to improving the quality of scientific output, enhancing its impact, and strengthening its role in serving society and supporting development in the State of Kuwait
