Reinforcing its academic and humanitarian role as an educational institution that embraces diverse cultures and communities, Kuwait University organized the third edition of the “ World Peoples’ Day ” Forum in cooperation with UNESCO on Wednesday, 11 February 2026, at the College of Arts in Sabah Al-Salem University City. The event was held in the presence of the President of Kuwait University, Prof. Dina Musaed Al-Mailem, several university leaders, Their Excellencies ambassadors, and representatives of more than 32 countries from six continents, in addition to a large gathering of students.
The forum commenced with a speech by the President of the University, who affirmed that Kuwait University represents a living model of cultural diversity and civilizational coexistence. She noted that the university campus is not merely an educational space, but a comprehensive human environment where nations meet and peoples connect. She emphasized that organizing this forum reflects the University’s commitment to building bridges of cultural dialogue and promoting the values of tolerance and openness, in alignment with the “New Kuwait 2035” vision, which considers culture a fundamental pillar of development and the building of a cohesive, multicultural society.
Prof. Al-Mailem welcomed the attendees, expressing pride in the State of Kuwait for hosting diverse communities in an atmosphere characterized by respect and coexistence. She extended her highest congratulations and blessings to His Highness the Amir of the State of Kuwait, may God preserve him; His Highness the Crown Prince; His Highness the Prime Minister; the esteemed Government; and the noble Kuwaiti people on the occasion of the national celebrations. She affirmed that convening this forum during these national days embodies the spirit of loyalty and belonging, and reflects Kuwait’s image as a nation that unites rather than divides and fosters communication among peoples.
She further noted that the forum aims to create an interactive space that brings multiple cultures together under one roof, enabling students to engage with and learn about the cultures of their peers through the wide participation of more than 32 embassies, thereby strengthening the University’s international dimension and reinforcing the concept of civilizational coexistence.
For his part, the Acting Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Salem Matroud Al-Shammari, affirmed that the university environment represents the true incubator for nurturing and consolidating culture. He highlighted that Kuwait University’s mission is grounded in openness among peoples and the promotion of shared civilizational values. He explained that the Deanship of Student Affairs is keen to organize such events to provide an integrated student environment that fosters dialogue and openness and encourages students to gain diverse experiences that contribute to building their leadership skills and broadening their knowledge within a supportive and motivating academic framework.
The forum featured a cultural exhibition in which each participating country was allocated a pavilion reflecting its national identity. Displays included traditional attire, cultural heritage, customs and traditions, and popular cuisine. Several participating countries also presented live folkloric performances, creating a vibrant cultural scene that showcased the richness and diversity of civilizations.
Now in its third edition, the forum reaffirms the Deanship of Student Affairs’ commitment to developing and expanding the event annually, thereby strengthening Kuwait University’s position as an international academic platform that celebrates human diversity. It seeks to create an atmosphere in which students from various communities feel at home—an environment that honors their identities and brings them closer to their cultures—reflecting the University’s mission to serve as a unifying home for all cultures and a center for constructive civilizational dialogue.
