In line with its strategic vision to enhance the quality of higher education and keep pace with international ranking standards, Kuwait University, represented by Dr. Dalal Al-Taweel, Assistant Vice President for Planning and Institutional Development and Chair of the Kuwait University Ranking Enhancement Committee, participated in the Technical Consultative Meeting on Global Rankings of GCC Higher Education Institutions, organized by the GCC General Secretariat on Monday, 9 February 2026, at the Secretariat’s headquarters in Riyadh.
The meeting featured in-depth discussions addressing the current landscape of university rankings across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and the challenges associated with them. Participants also reviewed the methodologies and frameworks adopted by international ranking organizations in measuring academic and research performance, contributing to a deeper understanding of ranking indicators and evaluation mechanisms.
The consultative meeting further provided an interactive platform for exchanging expertise among representatives of higher education institutions across the GCC. Discussions focused on identifying effective strategies to optimize resources and direct institutional efforts toward the most impactful performance indicators, thereby supporting the competitiveness of Gulf universities and strengthening their academic reputation at the international level.
