Under the patronage and in the presence of the Acting Dean of the College of Architecture at Kuwait University, Dr. Adel Al-Mumen, the College of Architecture pavilion was inaugurated at the Kuwait National Museum as part of the fourth edition of the Gardenia Exhibition. The opening was attended by the Deputy Head of Mission at the British Ambassy, Mr. Stuart Summers, and Eng. Bashar Al-Salem. The pavilion showcased a selected collection of interior architecture students’ design projects, completed under the supervision of Dr. Reem Dashti, within the courses Interior Architectural Design Studio (5) – Commercial Design and Human Factors in Design.
In this context, the pavilion featured design projects resulting from an integrated academic and research-based process aimed at achieving a well-considered balance between functional requirements and sensory experience in interior design. The projects emphasized the human being as the core of the design process, while highlighting concepts of architectural identity and local cultural context, thereby contributing to the enhancement of spatial quality and the overall experiential quality of space.
The exhibition also included a collection of furniture design works inspired by local architecture and culture, presented through a contemporary artistic vision that combines authenticity and modernity. These works reflected a deep understanding of human factors and their role in improving the quality of interior spaces, as well as achieving higher levels of functional and sensory comfort.
The participation of the Interior Architecture Program in the fourth edition of the Gardenia Exhibition affirmed the importance of integrating academic and practical aspects, strengthening the presence of educational outcomes within architectural and cultural platforms, and highlighting students’ abilities to propose thoughtful design solutions that respond to the requirements of commercial design while adhering to the humanistic and cultural values of society.
