The Deanship of Student Affairs at Kuwait University announced the launch of the “Cultural Cinema” initiative — the first of its kind — in cooperation with the National Council for Culture, Arts & Letters. This step aims to enhance students’ cultural and artistic awareness and to enrich university life with high-quality activities.
The initiative includes the screening of historic and documentary films that reflect key moments in culture and history. These films will be shown across the various colleges in Sabah Al-Salem University City, with the inaugural screening scheduled for 8 October at the College of Arts — South Building.
Parallel with the screenings, a distinguished exhibition will be held featuring rare cinema-related artifacts, documents, and photographs from the history of Kuwaiti cinema, spotlighting the development of this art form and its role in shaping the cultural memory of society.
On this occasion, Dr. Salem Al-Shammari, Acting Vice Dean for Student Activities at the Deanship of Student Affairs, stated:
“The launch of the Cultural Cinema initiative represents a qualitative addition to student activities at Kuwait University. It brings together education and entertainment and opens new horizons for students to explore history and cultural identity through cinematic art. We take pride in our partnership with the National Council for Culture, Arts & Letters in this initiative, and we hope it will become a permanent platform for enhancing artistic and cultural awareness among our students.”
