In Cooperation with the Ministry of Interior
Under the Framework of Promoting Traffic Awareness and Safety Culture
In alignment with its continuous efforts to promote traffic awareness among students and staff, Kuwait University—through the Department of Security and Safety—is launching a comprehensive awareness campaign in collaboration with the Traffic Awareness Department at the Ministry of Interior. The campaign will take place from 12 to 16 October 2025 at Sabah Al-Salem University City, in the presence of Mr. Yousef Yaqoub Al-Khamis, Director of the Security and Safety Department at Kuwait University, and Major Musaed Al-Aslawi, Head of the Traffic Awareness Department at the Ministry of Interior.
The primary objective of this campaign is to disseminate a culture of road safety and highlight the preventive measures that should be followed while driving within the university campus. It also aims to educate members of the university community on the importance of adhering to traffic regulations to ensure their safety and the safety of others.
In this regard, Mr. Yousef Yaqoub Al-Khamis, Director of the Security and Safety Department, emphasized that the annual traffic campaign, organized in coordination with the General Traffic Department at the Ministry of Interior, seeks to raise awareness among students and staff about common violations occurring on campus, in addition to the relevant rules and regulations established by the Ministry. He added that the roads and internal streets of Kuwait University are monitored directly by the Security and Safety Department in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, where violations are recorded and referred to the ministry for appropriate action.
The campaign also includes informative content about the new traffic law and its recent amendments, aiming to increase students' understanding of their responsibilities as drivers. Furthermore, Mr. Al-Khamis highlighted that the campaign introduces the university community to new gate entries, such as Gates 9B and A, and provides information on the soon-to-be-launched "Masar" service, designed to enhance traffic management on campus.
What distinguishes this campaign, according to Al-Khamis, is the direct engagement with students within their classrooms, offering interactive sessions that facilitate real-time awareness. He extended his appreciation to all entities and individuals contributing to the success of this initiative.
From his side, Major Musaed Al-Aslawi, Head of the Traffic Awareness Department at the Ministry of Interior, expressed his gratitude to Kuwait University for their kind invitation. He emphasized that the participation of the General Traffic Department coincides with the start of the new academic year, underscoring the department’s commitment to guiding students on the importance of leaving their homes early to avoid congestion and reduce the risk of speeding. He also stressed the importance of obeying traffic signals, particularly within the campus, to safeguard the wellbeing of all university stakeholders.
The campaign includes an educational video presentation for students, aligning with the shared initiatives between Kuwait University and the Ministry of Interior aimed at fostering a culture of traffic discipline and reinforcing safety values on campus. These efforts contribute to the protection of lives and property and the promotion of responsible driving behavior.
