The Faculty of Allied Health Sciences at Kuwait University celebrated International Medical Laboratory Day at the Medical Sciences Center building in the Jabriya area.
Dr. Elham Al-Dousari, Acting Vice Dean for Research and Graduate Studies, emphasized the faculty’s commitment to commemorating this global day, which highlights and affirms the pivotal role of medical laboratory sciences in supporting the healthcare system. She explained that this specialized field plays a significant role in the accuracy of medical diagnosis and, consequently, in the decision-making process.
Regarding the event, Dr. Al-Dousari noted that it consisted of two parts: one was an exhibition showcasing the students’ technical skills acquired during their academic journey at the faculty, and the other included scientific seminars presented by specialized professors from several prestigious medical and scientific institutions in Kuwait.
Meanwhile, Dr. Muneera Al-Rukhais, a faculty member in the Department of Laboratory Sciences, stated that the importance of medical laboratories is growing day by day. Their role goes beyond diagnosing and identifying diseases—whether infectious or chronic—as they also play a vital role in prevention and early treatment through routine testing, which helps in detecting diseases before they worsen.
She explained that this event aims to raise awareness about the important and vital role played by medical laboratory specialists, while also focusing on the quality of theoretical education and practical training using the latest scientific technologies in the field.
Dr. Al-Rukhais concluded by extending her sincere thanks to the medical laboratory students who enriched the event and were a cornerstone of its success, as well as to the organizing committee, represented by Dr. Dalal Al-Muailei, Dr. Faten Al-Wathiqi, and Dr. Nour Dashti, and to all the volunteers and contributors who helped make the event a success.
