Kuwait University Commends Prime Minister’s Inspection Visit during a Coordination Meeting Held to Ensure Continuity of Academic Activities Amid Current Circumstances

Prof. Dina Musaed Al-Mailem, President of Kuwait University, chaired an expanded meeting with the university’s leadership this morning, Wednesday, at Sabah Al-Salem University City. The meeting was convened to discuss a number of topics related to the university’s operations under the current circumstances facing the country, with the aim of ensuring the continuity of the academic journey, achieving student interests, and maintaining the flow of the learning process.

At the beginning of the meeting, the university administration expressed its sincere gratitude and deep appreciation to His Highness the Prime Minister, Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, for his gracious visit to Kuwait University. The visit provided an opportunity to review the readiness of shelters and the measures implemented to ensure the safety of all its affiliates, reflecting the wise leadership’s commitment to monitoring preparedness, enhancing the security and safety system in state institutions, and their dedication to following up on readiness measures. The administration also commended the continued support and follow-up of His Excellency Prof. Nader Abdullah Al-Jallal, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The meeting also reviewed the readiness of shelters across the university’s facilities, while also emphasizing monitoring the conditions of students residing in university housing, ensuring their safety and comfort. It further reviewed a set of guidelines and procedures implemented by the university under current circumstances, reflecting its dedication to the safety of its members and the continuation of its academic mission.

The meeting examined the progress of the academic process across the university’s colleges to ensure the continuation of studies and the achievement of the university’s educational and research objectives. It emphasized following up on the implementation of study plans and strengthening coordination between the university administration, colleges, and relevant sectors to maintain the quality of academic performance during this period.

The meeting addressed the current work mechanism applied in the university’s various sectors, in accordance with the Civil Service Commission’s directive, limiting on-site attendance to 30 percent or less, with the remainder working remotely according to operational needs. It also confirmed the implementation of work exemption decisions for employees with disabilities in accordance with existing regulations. Additionally, the situation of academic and administrative staff and students stranded abroad was addressed, with an emphasis on creating a comprehensive database to monitor their conditions and take the necessary measures.

The meeting further discussed the procedures for safeguarding information and data across different departments to ensure the preservation of institutional data, continuity of operations, and enhancement of institutional memory.

The meeting concluded by stressing the importance of ongoing coordination and follow-up between the university’s sectors to support the stability of academic and administrative operations and ensure their optimal functioning. It commended the efforts of the university’s academic, supporting, and administrative staff during this period and praised students for their commitment, diligence in their studies, and dedication to continuing their educational journey, praying for the safety of Kuwait, its leadership, government, citizens, and residents from all harm.
