Promoting Health and Nutritional Awareness Among University Members
Under the patronage of the Acting Secretary-General of Kuwait University, Prof. Nourah Al-Suwaih, the Administration of Catering at Kuwait University organized an awareness seminar titled “Your Health in Your Food.” The seminar was delivered by Dr. Afnan Al-Ibrahim, Assistant Professor in the College of Life Sciences, on Monday, 1 December 2025, at 12:30 p.m., in the lobby of the College of Life Sciences – South Building. The event was attended by a number of faculty members, the Director of the Administration of Catering, Ms. Farah Al-Eyadhi, along with groups of male and female students.
This seminar comes as part of Kuwait University’s ongoing efforts to promote health and nutritional awareness among students, faculty, and administrative staff by highlighting the importance of balanced nutrition and its role in preventing chronic diseases and improving overall quality of life. Through such initiatives, the University aims to cultivate a culture of health awareness within the campus community and encourage students to adopt more balanced and healthier lifestyles.
In her remarks, Dr. Afnan Al-Ibrahim explained that the seminar seeks to raise students’ awareness about the importance of maintaining their health and lifestyle habits, including proper nutrition. She noted that the goal is to help students improve their dietary practices during their university years so that these habits become part of their daily routine—supporting a healthier and more balanced life. She added that students undergo a transitional stage from adolescence to adulthood, a sensitive period that requires proper nutrition to support physical and mental development, enabling them to study effectively, be productive, and achieve stronger academic performance.
The seminar also featured student contributions in which participants shared personal experiences in adopting healthy dietary practices and lifestyle approaches that enhance daily well-being within the university environment. The event included an interactive Q&A segment in which attendees engaged with the lecturer and raised various questions related to healthy nutrition and daily dietary habits.
At the conclusion of the event, the Director of the Administration of Catering, Ms. Farah Al-Eyadhi, honored Dr. Afnan Al-Ibrahim in recognition of her valuable contribution. She also recognized the students who shared their nutritional experiences, acknowledging their role in promoting health awareness among their peers.
