The Administration of Catering at Kuwait University Organizes the “Nutrition and Sports” Event to Promote Awareness of Healthy Dietary and Sports Practices
As part of its ongoing efforts to promote the concept of nutritional and physical awareness for a healthy and balanced lifestyle, the Administration of Catering at Kuwait University, in collaboration with the Public Authority for Sport, organized the “Nutrition and Sports” event. The event was held under the patronage of the Acting Secretary-General of Kuwait University, Prof. Nourah Ahmed Al-Suwaih, on the morning of Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Sabah Al-Salem University City.
The event was attended by Acting Assistant Secretary-General for Facilities Management Affairs, Mr. Mohammed Al-Sulaiman; Acting Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Jassem Mohammed Al-Hamdan; Acting Dean of the College of Life Sciences, Prof. Ahmad Al-Lafi; Director of the Administration of Catering, Ms. Farah Al-Eyadhi; in addition to a distinguished group of nutrition experts and trainers from various sports clubs, as well as members of the academic and administrative staff and a number of students.
At the opening, Mr. Mohammed Al-Sulaiman, speaking on behalf of Acting Secretary-General Prof. Nora Al-Suwaih, affirmed that Kuwait University, through the Administration of Catering and in coordination with the Public Authority for Sport, is keen to organize such events that comprehensively address health and nutrition. He emphasized the importance of shedding light on key societal challenges in order to improve healthy dietary habits and lifestyles. He further highlighted that Sabah Al-Salem University City, as a health-conscious campus, embraces all awareness-raising activities that aim to enhance health literacy among members and visitors of Kuwait University.
For her part, Director of the Administration of Catering, Ms. Farah Al-Eyadhi, stated that as part of the broader national effort to improve public health in the State of Kuwait, the department is committed to organizing diverse activities that promote public health concepts and explore potential solutions to improve dietary habits. She extended her appreciation to all participating and sponsoring entities for their valuable contribution to the success of the awareness event.
In addition, Dr. Noor Al-Awadhi, faculty member at the College of Education, noted that such awareness events align with Kuwait University’s vision as a global healthy campus. She emphasized the importance of empowering youth through educational initiatives, with the involvement of sports clubs and various governmental bodies, to reinforce proper dietary and health behaviors, raise community awareness about public health maintenance, encourage healthy lifestyle choices, and promote awareness of proper nutrition alongside the necessity of regular physical activity.
The event featured two panel discussions with the participation of a group of athletes and nutrition specialists, aimed at disseminating concepts of proper nutrition and physical fitness. Participants emphasized the need for a collaborative, community-based approach to adopt an integrated health and nutrition system, in coordination with various institutions, to ensure access to adequate healthcare and promote a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
On the sidelines of the panel discussions, an awareness exhibition was held with the participation of several public and private institutions committed to fostering a culture of health awareness under the slogan: "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body."
