200 Dentists Attend External Referees Lecture Series, Faculty of Dentistry Graduates Assessed on an International Level

The Faculty of Dentistry at the Health Sciences Center – Kuwait University celebrated its graduates for the academic year 2024/2025 following the conclusion of academic and clinical evaluations conducted by international external referees. The assessment commended the high caliber of the graduates, noting their proficiency as comparable to postgraduate level and aligned with the standards of top international universities.

Acting Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Dr. Rashid Al-Azmi, stated that the college annually invites external referees of professorial rank from leading international universities to evaluate both the academic and clinical competencies of the graduating students. These assessments, which include examinations and practical interviews, serve to ensure the readiness of students for professional practice and underscore the faculty’s commitment to producing highly competent graduates recognized locally, regionally, and globally.

Acting Vice Dean for Student and Academic Affairs, Dr. Asmaa Al-Yahya, noted that this year’s visiting examiners included Prof. Amr Morsi from New York University - USA, Prof. Nicholas Hodson from the University of Leeds - UK, Prof. Mohammed Al-Qahtani from King Saud University - Saudi Arabia, Prof. Anders Johansson from the University of Bergen – Norway, and Prof. Jean Morkel from the University of Cape Town - South Africa. At the conclusion of their six-day visit, the referees unanimously praised the high level of competence demonstrated by Kuwait University’s dental graduates.

On the sidelines of the visit, the Faculty of Dentistry, in collaboration with the Kuwait Institute for Medical Specialization (KIMS), organized a series of scientific lectures delivered by the external referees. The event was attended by 200 dentists from public and private hospitals and healthcare centers across Kuwait. The full-day session focused on the latest advancements in dental medicine and oral and maxillofacial health and served as a valuable platform for knowledge and experience exchange in the field.
