In alignment with Kuwait University's commitment to fostering community partnerships and raising environmental awareness, the Marine Science Center at the College of Science, Kuwait University, hosted the 19th Kuwaiti-French Scientific Exhibition. This event, organized under the theme "Productive Use of Leisure Time through Science and Technology – MILSET Asia," is held annually in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, represented by the Science Supervision Directorate, and the Embassy of the French Republic in the State of Kuwait. The exhibition aims to strengthen bilateral scientific collaboration and contribute to the dissemination and advancement of scientific and technological culture.
This year’s collaboration with the Marine Science Center coincided with the theme proposed by MILSET (International Movement for Leisure Activities in Science and Technology), titled "Science in Service of Our Marine Environment." The initiative seeks to promote environmental awareness among students and emphasize the importance of scientific research in the protection of the marine environment. The Department of Marine Sciences at the College of Science actively participated through the delivery of environmental awareness lectures, scientific activities, and interactive laboratory experiments. Additionally, research faculty members presented a showcase of outstanding scientific research projects. The event also included a guided tour of the Marine Science Center and its associated scientific facilities.
Commenting on the occasion, Prof. Dhiya Al-Bader, Director of the Marine Science Center, stated:
“This scientific collaboration reinforces Kuwait University's continuous efforts to serve the community and cultivate scientific curiosity and knowledge among school students in Kuwait, in line with the University’s strategic vision.”
Prof. Al-Bader also provided a brief overview of the Marine Sciences major at the College of Science, highlighting its interdisciplinary nature that combines theoretical study with fieldwork, with a core focus on the protection and sustainability of marine environments. She further emphasized the importance of this field and the valuable scientific research conducted by faculty members.
