Within the framework of the strategic partnership between Kuwait University and the Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity, the PRE Program was launched on the morning of Saturday, August 9, 2025. The program aims to qualify outstanding high school students in the fields of medicine and engineering, preparing them academically and professionally to pursue medical and engineering specializations in the future.
The program activities were inaugurated at the College of Engineering and Petroleum at Kuwait University, with participation from a select group of high school students from Kuwait and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The program runs until August 18 and features two main tracks: engineering and medicine.
In this regard, Prof. Khaled Al-Hazaa, Dean of the College of Engineering and Petroleum, welcomed the participating students, affirming that the College considers itself part of a unified Gulf system that continuously seeks to enhance integration and cooperation among GCC countries. Dr. Al-Hazaa highlighted the University’s commitment to providing all necessary facilities and support to make the students feel at home, emphasizing the College’s dedication to offering a stimulating educational environment that meets their academic and professional aspirations and needs.
Meanwhile, Eng. Neda Al-Daihani, Director General of the Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity, conveyed three key messages to the participating students. In his first message, he emphasized that the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, under which the Sabah Al-Ahmad Center operates, prioritizes supporting science, technology, and innovation in Kuwait. He noted that the Center adopts the Foundation’s philosophy of nurturing talented students at this critical stage of their development, considering such programs instrumental in preparing future scientists, inventors, and innovators who will have a tangible impact in vital scientific fields across the region.
In his second message, Al-Daihani expressed gratitude to Kuwait University for hosting the program and its participants, commending the University’s longstanding leadership in supporting scientific initiatives. He pointed out that hosting the program during the summer break of faculty members reflects a spirit of initiative and a commitment to providing a comprehensive educational environment befitting students from Kuwait and the Gulf countries.
In his final message, Al-Daihani encouraged the students to enjoy and benefit fully from the program’s diverse activities. He noted that joint activities between the different tracks would be held, both scientifically and culturally, culminating in a closing ceremony bringing all participants together. He concluded by wishing the students success and maximum benefit from this valuable experience.
The engineering track includes scientific lectures, workshops, and field visits covering electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering, as well as applications in artificial intelligence, robotics design, renewable energy, 3D printing, and laboratory safety, alongside practical engineering project implementation.
The medical track, held at Kuwait University’s Faculty of Medicine, features lectures and hands-on workshops in anatomy, pharmacology, surgery, and health sciences, in addition to field visits to medical departments. These activities aim to familiarize students with the nature of work in medical professions and enhance their understanding of various health specialties.
Kuwait University and the Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity affirm that the program aligns with Kuwait’s national vision to support gifted individuals, develop their skills, and build a national cadre capable of contributing to the country’s development and innovation. These initiatives reflect the commitment of both institutions to providing an inspiring educational environment that meets future needs.
