Kuwait University Announces the Application Schedule for Admission to the First Semester of the 2026/2027 Academic Year
Acting Dean of Admissions and Registration, Dr. Fadhel Abbas Aziz, stated that online applications for Kuwaiti students who meet admission requirements—graduates of the Unified System, Religious Institute, American schools, and English schools (including those expected to graduate)—for admission to the first semester of the academic year 2026/2027 will open from Saturday, July 18, 2026 (12:00 a.m.) until Tuesday, July 28, 2026 (10:00 a.m.).
Kuwaiti students holding high school certificates from outside Kuwait may apply in person at the Admissions and Registration Hall at Sabah Al-Salem University City from July 22 to July 28, 2026, during official working hours, in accordance with the approved schedule.
He explained that admission to all academic programs at the university is based on the equivalent GPA, with the exception of programs in the College of Science and the College of Law, where the equivalent GPA is calculated according to specific weightings that vary from one college to another, based on the student’s high school results and academic aptitude test scores.
Online Application Process
He stated that the application process for admission to the university for the first semester of the 2026/2027 academic year will be conducted online through the admissions system webpage at the following address: http://portal.ku.edu.kw/admission
The forementioned applicants can apply online through the mentioned webpage. This step reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to simplifying procedures and enhancing the efficiency of academic and administrative services. He also indicated that the admission approval period announced in the schedule for Kuwaiti students includes graduates of American and English high schools who have submitted their applications online, while graduates of the Unified System and Religious Institute will have their admission confirmed electronically without the need to visit the admissions and registration hall.
English Language Aptitude Test Equivalency
He further indicated that scores from TOEFL PBT, TOEFL IBT, or IELTS may be used as a substitute for the English aptitude test when calculating the equivalent GPA, provided results are submitted before the application deadline. These scores may also be used for exemption from remedial courses if submitted during the admission approval period and no later than the end of the first week of classes in the semester to which the student has been admitted.
Accuracy of Entered Data
Dr. Aziz added that if a student is unable to access the system to submit an application, an electronic link will appear providing the necessary instructions and guidelines to follow, emphasizing that admission to the university is conditional upon the accuracy of the entered data.
Required Documents for Admission
He also urged students to review their application forms to identify the required documents based on the type of their high school certificate. The university reserves the right to cancel admission if required documents are not provided or if it is proven that the data on which admission was granted is inaccurate, in accordance with the fundamental rules of admission and transfer at Kuwait University.
Students with Disabilities
The Acting Dean of Admissions and Registration, Dr. Fadhel Abbas Aziz, indicated that specific minimum admission GPA have been set for Kuwaiti students with disabilities who meet the stated admission requirements. These GPAs are lower than the general minimum admission requirements of the university and are set at 65% for the Science track and 72% for the Arts track.
Applicants are required to submit, as part of their application documents, a valid disability certification issued by the Public Authority for Disability Affairs, along with medical reports. These students must visit the Admissions and Registration Hall during official working hours to submit their applications for the first semester of the 2026/2027 academic year.
However, if a student’s average is 70% or higher for the Science track or 78% or higher for the Arts track, they may apply electronically through the online admissions system at the previously mentioned webpage.
Expected English High School Graduates
Students from English schools expected to graduate must apply online within the specified dates and submit final scores to the Deanship of Admission and Registration within two working days of their announcement. Admission will follow the announced minimum requirements announced for colleges and majors, affirming that their chances of admission are equal to those of their peers who completed their documents during the application period.
Transfer Applications
He added that the University has designated a specific period for students wishing to transfer from other universities, the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, and military institutions including the Kuwaiti Army, National Guard, and Saad Al-Abdullah Academy for Security Sciences from Sunday, July 5 to Thursday, August 13, 2026.
In conclusion, the Acting Dean of Admissions and Registration at Kuwait University, Dr. Fadhel Abbas Aziz, reaffirmed the University’s commitment to continuing its educational and national mission in preparing qualified national competencies and developing human capital capable of contributing to national development and keeping pace with future demands. This is achieved through an integrated academic environment and supportive institutional services that empower students and refine their academic and professional skills, wishing all students success.
