Within the Framework of an Official Visit Organized by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences Kuwait University Receives a Delegation from Qatar Foundation to Explore Prospects for Academic Cooperation

As part of an official visit organized by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), Kuwait University, represented by its President, Prof Dina Musaed Al-Mailem, welcomed a high-level delegation from Qatar Foundation headed by Prof. Hilal lashuel, Advisor for Research, Development and Innovation, Chairman of the Qatar Foundation Board of Directors, and Chief Executive Officer for Research, Development and Innovation. The visit, held from 6 to 8 October 2025, was attended by Dr. Ameenah Rajab Farhan, Director General of KFAS, along with a number of senior university officials, with the aim of enhancing academic and research cooperation between scientific institutions in the State of Kuwait and the State of Qatar.

In her welcoming remarks, Prof. Dina Musaed Al-Mailemexpressed her appreciation for the visit, which took place at Sabah Al-Salem University City, affirming that such engagements represent a significant step towards building strong bridges of scientific and research collaboration among higher education institutions in the Gulf region. She emphasized that this strategic cooperation is essential to address regional challenges and to achieve sustainable development in the Arabian Gulf, while also providing a valuable opportunity to broaden the scope of academic and research collaboration between the two brotherly nations.

Prof. Al-Mailem further noted that Kuwait University places great importance on strengthening academic and scientific partnerships within the framework of student and faculty exchange initiatives. These efforts align with the vision of "New Kuwait 2035" and reflect the noble directives of His Highness the Amir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah—may Allah preserve and protect him—in supporting education, scientific research, and enhancing cooperation with regional and international institutions to achieve sustainable national development.

In conclusion, Prof. Al-Mailem underscored that this visit contributes to fostering a fruitful and sustainable partnership between the two countries, supports the exchange of expertise, and promotes the global standing of Gulf universities and research institutions.

During the visit, the delegation toured Sabah Al-Salem University City, including the College of Science and the College of Engineering and Petroleum. The guests were introduced to the University’s modern academic and research facilities and received an overview of key projects underway within the university city. The visit also included discussions on potential avenues for collaborative research initiatives.
