Kuwait University, represented by the Office of the Assistant Vice President for Academic Support Services for Information Technology, and in cooperation with Gartner, held a workshop entitled “Gartner IT Symposium Summary” on Tuesday, 9 December 2025, at Sabah Al-Salem University City. The event was attended by the Vice President for Academic Support Services, Dr. Abdullah Al-Mutawa; the Assistant Vice President for Academic Support Services for Information Technology, Dr. Mohammad Al-Marzouq; the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs for Assessment and Measurement, Dr. Sulaiman Al-Rafee; the Assistant Vice President for Academic Support Services for Community Service and Libraries, Dr. Hamed S. Al-Fraih; the Acting Director of the Community Service and Continuing Education Center, Ms. Etemad Al-Kandari; and a number of university leaders from various sectors.
Gartner was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Jasem Al-Mutawa, and the Vice President of Executive Partnerships in the Technology Sector, Mr. Joe Yousef Malek.
The workshop aimed to strengthen Kuwait University’s role in keeping pace with technological advancements, leveraging artificial intelligence to support the educational process, and enhancing the quality of services provided to members of the University community.
The program included a presentation delivered by Gartner’s Vice President of Executive Partnerships in the Technology Sector, Mr. Joe Yousef Malek, in which he discussed the latest global trends in digital transformation and ways to employ these advancements to achieve sustainability and deliver new and innovative services supported by artificial intelligence technologies.
For his part, the Assistant Vice President for Academic Support Services for Information Technology, Dr. Mohammad Al-Marzouq, emphasized the University’s ongoing commitment to offering specialized training workshops that enable its staff to perform their duties efficiently amid rapid technological developments. He highlighted the importance of utilizing artificial intelligence and digital transformation to reduce workload and improve performance, noting that this workshop is part of the University’s broader efforts to promote digital innovation and empower national talent to keep pace with accelerating technological progress.
Meanwhile, the Acting Director of the Community Service and Continuing Education Center, Ms. Etemad Al-Kandari, affirmed that organizing such workshops at Kuwait University represents a shared responsibility aimed at strengthening knowledge, which requires keeping abreast of technological evolution through embracing change and developing capabilities.
In turn, Gartner’s CEO, Mr. Jasem Mohammed Al-Mutawa, explained that the workshop provides a concise overview of key contemporary trends in artificial intelligence and their direct impact on organizational structures and decision-making within institutions.
