University Council Holds Its Sixth Meeting Chaired by Kuwait University President Prof. Dina Musaed Al-Mailem

 

• Kuwait University President opens the University Council meeting, congratulating the academic community on the conclusion of the first semester and the beginning of a new year, and wishing students success in their examinations.
• The President affirms the University administration’s commitment to the safety and well-being of all University affiliates in all aspects, emphasizing that all proposals and complaints are carefully considered and that necessary actions will be taken accordingly.
• Approval of the promotion of (21) faculty members to the ranks of Professor and Associate Professor across scientific colleges, and humanities and social science colleges.
• Approval of the University administration’s proposal to allocate premises, for rental fees, to the Kuwait University Faculty Association, the National Cybersecurity Center, and the Social Security Fund for Kuwait University Employees.
• Approval of a Memorandum of Understanding between Kuwait University and the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan.
• Approval of the proposal submitted by the Deanship of Admission and Registration regarding amendments to regulations governing the preparation of academic schedules.
• Approval to seek academic accreditation from AQAS for the Geography Department programs at the College of Social Sciences.
• Approval of academic accreditation from the Canadian institution EQUAL for the Radiological Sciences Program at the College of Allied Health Sciences.

Professor Dina Musaed Al-Mailem, President of Kuwait University, chaired the sixth meeting of the University Council (No. 06/2025) on Wednesday, 24 December 2025, held at the University Council Meeting Hall in Sabah Al-Salem University City, in the presence of Council members.

At the outset of the meeting, the President welcomed attendees and noted that this was her sixth meeting to discuss a number of agenda items. She also congratulated the academic community on the conclusion of the first semester and the start of a new year, wishing students success and excellence in their examinations.

The President reaffirmed the University administration’s keenness to ensure the safety and comfort of all University affiliates in all respects, stressing that the administration gives due consideration to all proposals and complaints submitted and will not hesitate to take all necessary measures accordingly.

In a statement following the meeting, Prof. Noura Al-Suwaih, Acting Secretary General of Kuwait University and the University’s Official Spokesperson, stated that the University Council approved the administration’s proposal to allocate premises, for rental fees, to the Kuwait University Faculty Association, the National Cybersecurity Center, and the Social Security Fund for Kuwait University Employees. The Council also approved the proposed rental fees (usage fees) for computer-equipped halls in the University’s administrative building at Sabah Al-Salem University City, set at KWD 10 per hour.

Prof. Al-Suwaih added that the Council approved a Memorandum of Understanding between Kuwait University and the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, as well as the proposal submitted by the Deanship of Admission and Registration regarding amendments to the regulations governing the preparation of academic schedules.

She further noted that the Council approved a request for academic accreditation from AQAS for the Geography Department programs at the College of Social Sciences and granted approval for academic accreditation from the Canadian institution EQUAL for the Radiological Sciences Program at the College of Allied Health Sciences.

The meeting concluded with the approval of the promotion of 21 faculty members to the ranks of Professor and Associate Professor across the scientific colleges, and humanities and social science colleges.
