Within the framework of joint cooperation between Kuwait University and the Ministry of Higher Education, the university hosted on Wednesday, 12 November 2025, a delegation from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Ministry of Higher Education for an extensive coordination meeting on “Mechanisms of International Cooperation in Higher Education and Scientific Research”. The meeting took place at Sabah Al-Salem University City, in the presence of a distinguished group of academic leaders from both sides.
The meeting began with a welcoming speech delivered by Prof. Osama Al‑Omair, Vice President for Planning and Acting Vice President for Scientific Affairs, in which he greeted the attendees and emphasized Kuwait University’s commitment to strengthening Gulf and international partnerships and expanding academic and research collaboration, contributing to the advancement of educational outcomes and supporting the knowledge economy.
Prof. Huda Mahmoud Abdullah Mahmoud, Assistant Vice President for Scientific Affairs for Academic Development, followed with a visual introduction highlighting the academic and infrastructural development that Kuwait University has witnessed in recent years. She detailed the university’s modern academic and research facilities, focusing on international agreements and the key challenges faced in their implementation, as well as the measures the university has adopted to overcome them. Her presentation elicited significant engagement from the visiting delegation, who praised the level of progress achieved by the university.
Subsequently, Dr. Mabkhout Mohammad Al-Dosari, Assistant Vice President for External Research Collaboration and Consultation, delivered a presentation on scientific research and international agreements, emphasizing the importance of activating joint research partnerships to enhance the quality of scientific output and innovation.
This was followed by a speech from Prof. Ahmed Abdullah Al-Mekhyal, Acting Dean of the College of Graduate Studies, who addressed issues related to graduate studies, international collaboration, and quality assurance, emphasizing the importance of Gulf-wide integration in developing academic and research programs in accordance with the highest standards of accreditation.
Dr. Hala Khaled Al-Jassar, Head of the Department of Physics at the College of Science, presented Kuwait University’s experience in launching the Kuwaiti satellite, describing it as a national achievement that reflects the university’s scientific and research advancements.
Dr. Dalal Al-Taweel, Assistant Vice President for Planning and Institutional Development, discussed Kuwait University’s performance in international rankings, highlighting the key efforts that have contributed to enhancing the university’s standing in global academic standards.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Prof. Osama Al‑Omair reaffirmed Kuwait University’s dedication to strengthening channels of academic and research collaboration with regional and international higher education institutions, establishing practical mechanisms for exchanging expertise and developing joint programs. He noted that the university remains committed to supporting national and Gulf efforts to consolidate international cooperation, thereby advancing education and scientific research, and enhancing Kuwait’s global academic standing.
The visit concluded with a field tour of the College of Business Administration for the GCC delegation, during which the visitors were introduced to the college’s academic and research facilities. They received briefings on educational services and classrooms, particularly the Student Exchange Office and the Trading Hall, The delegation expressed admiration for the high academic standards and the distinguished infrastructure of Kuwait University.
