Kuwait University has achieved a new national milestone by winning the Excellence Award in the VEX Robotics competition as part of the Kuwait National Robotics Championship.
In a scientific and technological accomplishment added to the record of national successes, the Kuwait University team earned the Excellence Award in the University Category during its participation in the VEX Robotics competitions, which were held within the activities of the Kuwait National Robotics Championship organized by the College of Science at Kuwait University. The event witnessed broad participation from educational institutions and student teams representing various academic levels.
This achievement reflects the continuous scientific and technical efforts of the University’s students, who demonstrated a high level of professionalism in robot design and programming, strong competence in solving complex engineering challenges, and effective teamwork characterized by a collaborative spirit, in addition to their commitment to the highest international standards adopted in educational robotics competitions.
On this occasion, the Acting Dean of the College of Science at Kuwait University, Prof. Haider Sayed Jawad Behbehani, affirmed that the University team’s achievement of the Excellence Award in the university category represents a national accomplishment that reflects the advanced level reached by Kuwait University students in the fields of science, technology, and innovation.
He explained that this recognition resulted from the students’ outstanding scientific and technical efforts, as well as their demonstrated efficiency in robot design and programming, their ability to apply advanced engineering concepts in practical contexts, and their teamwork aligned with internationally recognized robotics competition standards. He added that the competitions witnessed a high level of challenge and rivalry among participating teams, requiring programming precision, engineering design efficiency, and rapid task execution. Kuwait University students proved their ability to meet these challenges with competence and distinction, reflecting the quality of the academic programs and training support provided by the College and the University.
The Acting Dean further noted that this achievement aligns with the University’s strategy aimed at supporting talented students, developing their skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields, and empowering them to apply theoretical knowledge in practical applications that keep pace with rapid global technological and innovation developments. He emphasized that the College of Science takes pride in organizing and hosting the Kuwait National Robotics Championship as a national scientific platform that contributes to discovering young talents, refining their skills, and promoting a culture of creativity and scientific research, in addition to preparing national cadres capable of representing the State of Kuwait at regional and international forums.
He concluded by reaffirming the College and University’s commitment to continuing support provided for scientific initiatives and high-quality student activities, and to providing a stimulating educational environment that prepares a scientifically and technically empowered generation capable of contributing effectively to sustainable development and enhancing Kuwait’s scientific and technological standing at both regional and international levels.
The Dean also praised the pivotal role played by the Department of Computer Science at the College of Science in organizing the Kuwait National Robotics Championship, noting the department’s active contribution to the preparation, organization, and technical supervision of the competition. This reflects the competence of its academic and organizational teams and its commitment to linking theoretical knowledge with practical applications in programming, artificial intelligence, and robotics.
He added that organizing the championship by the Department of Computer Science aligns with the College’s vision of supporting distinguished scientific initiatives, strengthening collaboration between academic departments and students, and providing applied educational platforms that develop analytical thinking and technological innovation skills.
