She noted that diabetes is no longer an individual health concern but a societal issue that requires collective cooperation with state institutions to promote a culture of health and reinforce a preventive lifestyle. She highlighted that early detection, proper
nutrition, and physical activity are among the most important factors in reducing the prevalence of the disease. Al-Kandari pointed out that this awareness event, organized on World Diabetes Day, reflects the role and responsibility of all relevant institutions in spreading knowledge among all segments of society and fostering health awareness across the community.
For her part, Senior Specialist – Diabetes Educator at Dasman Diabetes Institute, Ms. Naeema Ali Al-Qabandi, presented a visual slideshow explaining the historical development of the understanding of diabetes, noting that the concept of diabetes in ancient times was fundamentally different from what it is today.

She also outlined the signs of high blood sugar and the differences between its types.
Following the lecture, a Q&A session was held, allowing attendees to raise questions about the disease, its complications, and prevention methods.
