Assistant Professor

Hasan J. Ashkanani is an assistant professor of anthropological archaeology and a curator of Anthropology and Archaeology Museum and Laboratory in the department of Sociology, Social Work, and Anthropology at Kuwait University, recently a consultant of NCCAL for antiquities and museums affairs. His research interests involve: studying artifact assemblages of Late Neolithic and the Bronze Age in the Arabian Gulf and adjacent regions, using chemical and petrographic analysis; the source of artifacts common to the Ubaid-culture and Dilmun Periods; and the nature of socio-political entities, social complexity, trade and exchange, and social archaeology. Hasan's research interests also involve the history of archaeology and museums in Kuwait, Cultural heritage digitalization and public archaeology.
